2007 Pinot Noir "Block B "

ORIGIN: Wairarapa

CLIMATIC CONDITIONS: Cool spring and late frosts causing tiny crops while a long and dry summer ensured ideal ripening conditions.

DATE OF HARVEST: 10 - 15 April 2007

HARVEST & VINIFICATION:

Block B is a selection of the Dijon Pinot Noir Clones; specifically the clones 115, 667, 777, 114 and 113. Hand-picked and careful selection of grapes. 100% de-stemmed, cold-maceration and fermentation in stainless steel vats and left on “skins” for 3 weeks. Aged in 50% new and 50% used French oak barriques for 14 months.

DATE OF BOTTLING: 07 July 2008

ALC 14.5% VOL

TASTING NOTES: Quite restrained whilst young; a bouquet of black cherry and plum merge with spicy aromas of juniper berry, cinnamon and tobacco leaf with a touch of leather which combines with hints of dark chocolate and some floral notes. A rich and full-bodied vintage with well integrated French oak and tight tannin structure foreseeing long maturing potential.

DRINKING TEMPERATURE: 16-18 ºC

CELLARING: 5 - 12 years

CASES PRODUCED: 384
