Martinborough, Wairarapa
CLIMATIC CONDITIONS: Cool spring and late-frosts causing tiny crops while a long and dry summer/autumn ensured ideal ripening conditions.
DATE OF HARVEST: 3 and 5 May 2003
HARVEST & VINIFICATION: Hand-picked and 100 % de-stemmed. Fermentation in stainless steel vats and maceration for 3 weeks. Aged in 40 % new and 60% used French Oak barriques for 27 months.

TASTING
NOTES: Powerful, meaty nose with macerated fruit and a lovely perfumed bacon-like edge amid some sweet, luscious honey notes. The palate is very savoury with soft tannins, herby dark fruit, well balanced with good acidity. Hints of green olives and some tropical notes give this wine excellent depth with a remarkable combination of spiciness and fruitiness.
